1. About BuiltWeb

BuiltWeb ("we", "us", "our") provides subscription-based web development, hosting, design, branding and related services. These terms govern your use of our website at builtweb.co.uk and any services you purchase from us.

By signing up to a BuiltWeb plan or purchasing an add-on, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use our services.

2. The service

BuiltWeb provides ongoing web development on a monthly subscription model. Each plan includes a one-off setup fee (which covers the initial design and build) plus a monthly subscription fee that covers hosting, content updates, SEO, security, support and ongoing improvements as described on our pricing page.

Add-ons are optional features that can be added to any plan for an additional monthly charge plus an add-on setup fee. Each add-on is implemented in stages and may take longer to deliver depending on complexity (see section 6).

3. Subscription & billing

  1. Setup fee: charged in full at checkout via Stripe. The setup fee covers the initial build of your website or add-on. Setup fees are non-refundable once work has commenced.
  2. Monthly subscription:billed automatically on the same date each month via Stripe, starting on the date you subscribe. The first month's subscription is charged at checkout alongside the setup fee.
  3. Plan upgrades: if you upgrade mid-cycle, the difference is prorated and invoiced immediately. The new monthly price applies from your next billing cycle.
  4. Add-ons: add-on monthly fees are added to your existing subscription with prorated billing for the rest of the current cycle. Add-on setup fees are charged immediately as a separate one-off invoice.
  5. Price changes:we may change subscription prices for new customers at any time. Existing subscribers will be given at least 30 days' notice of any price increase to their plan.
  6. VAT: all prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated. VAT will be added at the prevailing rate where applicable.

4. Failed payments

If a scheduled payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds, declined by the issuer, etc.), we will retry the payment automatically via Stripe. You will be notified by email each time and asked to update your payment method through your dashboard.

If your account remains in arrears for 28 days from the original failed payment date, we reserve the right to pause your website (your domain will still resolve, but your site will display a maintenance message). Your project will remain paused until your account is fully up to date. We will not delete your data during a pause.

If your account remains unpaid for 90 days from the original failed payment, we may terminate the subscription, remove your site from our hosting, and delete project data after a final 14 days' written notice.

5. Cancellation & refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard or by emailing admin@builtweb.co.uk. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — your site stays active and you keep access to all features until then.

Refunds:we do not offer refunds for the current month's subscription once it has been charged. Setup fees are non-refundable once work has commenced. If you cancel mid-month, you continue to receive service until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not offer pro-rata refunds for unused portions of a billing period.

In exceptional circumstances (e.g. service unavailable through our fault for an extended period), we may at our discretion offer a partial refund or service credit calculated against the remainder of the current monthly term.

6. Implementation timelines

We aim to deliver every project promptly, but timelines vary based on complexity, content readiness and your responsiveness. We provide best-effort estimates rather than fixed deadlines.

Some features and add-ons take longer to implement, including but not limited to:

  • E-commerce stores with large product catalogues, custom integrations, payment provider setups, and shipping rules
  • AI-powered features (chatbots, content generation, custom AI integrations) which require model training, prompt engineering and quality testing
  • Custom apps, dashboards or tools requiring back-end development
  • Multi-location SEO with extensive area coverage
  • Membership and course platforms with complex content structures
  • Listings systems with advanced filtering and search

Your implementation progress is tracked in your dashboard. We will keep you updated via the in-dashboard messaging system at every stage. Delays caused by waiting for content, assets, approvals or third-party services from you do not affect your subscription billing.

7. Your responsibilities

  1. You must provide accurate information when signing up and keep it up to date.
  2. You must promptly provide any content, assets, brand materials, login credentials or approvals we need to do our work. Significant delays on your side may extend project timelines without affecting billing.
  3. You confirm that all content, images, logos and materials you provide to us are owned by you or properly licensed, and do not infringe any third-party rights.
  4. You must not use our services for any unlawful purpose, to host or distribute illegal, harmful, defamatory, infringing, obscene or hateful content, or to send unsolicited bulk email (spam).
  5. You are responsible for the security of your BuiltWeb account, including your password. Notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access.
  6. You must not attempt to reverse engineer, copy or resell our platform or services without written permission.

8. Intellectual property

Your content: you retain all ownership of content, branding, images, copy and assets you provide to us.

The website we build: on full payment of all fees, you are granted a perpetual, non-exclusive licence to use the website we have built for you on the BuiltWeb platform for the duration of your subscription.

Our platform & tools: the BuiltWeb platform, software, templates, design systems, internal tools, code libraries and underlying infrastructure remain our property. You do not acquire ownership of these by subscribing.

If you cancel your subscription and wish to take an exported version of your content, we can provide a static export of your site's public content and assets at our discretion. This export does not include our proprietary code, templates or backend systems.

9. Hosting & uptime

We host your site on industry-standard infrastructure and aim for 99.9% uptime, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance, third-party outages, force majeure events and circumstances beyond our reasonable control may cause downtime. We are not liable for any losses, lost revenue or damages resulting from downtime.

We take regular backups of customer data but you are encouraged to keep your own copies of any critical content.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BuiltWeb's total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the services, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to us in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

We are not liable for:

  • Loss of profit, revenue, business, anticipated savings, goodwill or opportunity
  • Loss or corruption of data beyond our reasonable backup procedures
  • Indirect, special or consequential losses of any kind
  • Failures caused by third-party services, your hosting provider, your domain registrar, or any party outside our reasonable control
  • Losses arising from content you provide or third-party content displayed on your site

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

11. Termination by us

We may suspend or terminate your subscription without refund if:

  • You materially breach these terms and fail to remedy the breach within 14 days of written notice
  • Your account remains unpaid for more than 28 days
  • You use the service for illegal, abusive or fraudulent purposes
  • You attempt to compromise the security of our platform or other customers
  • You become insolvent, enter administration or cease trading

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify active subscribers of material changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the service after the change date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not accept the changes you may cancel your subscription before they take effect.

13. Privacy & data protection

We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using our services you consent to such processing and warrant that all data you provide is accurate.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
